Learn How to Launch a Future Center in Your Community

We are honored to share our experience with you and help you to stand up a High School Future Center in your community.

You’ll find that this Playbook is so much more than a document. It has been a decade long labor of love for our team. You will find that this Playbook and our relationship with your community will evolve. And your relationship with our team can be as deep as you need it to be.

The Playbook is a beginning–a place to find the strategic questions that will create the foundations for your Future Center. The Playbook will help you capitalize, strategize, and stand up your Future Center. The Resources section here will be ever evolving. We hope our connected Future Centers will continue to share successes and challenges. Above all, we are here to hear you. You will be able to choose from a number of custom consulting models, or just subscribe to the Playbook itself and learn as you go.

Future Center Design Models.

Communities have their own DNA. And within those communities, individual high schools–even those in the same school systems–can have their own DNA. The DNA can inform the relationships necessary for collaborative work, the funding streams through which you’ll capitalize and maintain your Future Center, and the data sharing you’ll incorporate as part of your work. What are your goals for your High School Future Center? Will your funding come from public or private sources?  To whom will your Future Center Director report? Who are the stakeholders involved?

Take our quiz and learn more about yourself, your goals, and a good model for your Future Center design.

Hiring recommendations.

The most important element of the High School Future Center, the ‘secret sauce’ if you will, is the Future Center Director (FCD).  We can help with your soup-to-nuts hiring process for your Future Center Director, the budgetary implications, and the design of functionality for your FCD.  Interview formats, position descriptions, and SMART goals can be found in the Playbook. But our team is also available to help you work through specific questions or challenges.

Tracking goals.

Future Center Directors challenge students to be strategic about their own futures.  The Future Centers, themselves, must also be strategic in the goals they are working to accomplish, the outcomes they intend to impact, and the real change they set out to make in their High Schools and across their communities.  The Playbook can help your team identify tools, measures, and early outcomes to track individual and aggregate changes towards life readiness after high school.  Our team can help you identify and track longer term goals which will impact your school and community.

Designing programs.

The Future Centers are hubs for life readiness after high school.  By nature, they are filled with student-centered programs, curricula, and events.  In the Playbook, you’ll find user-friendly event plans and templates that will walk you through FAFSA completion initiatives, College Application Weeks, Summer Internship Programs and more.  We will also host a RESOURCES section which will be a dynamic space for Future Centers across the Commonwealth to share programs, ideas, events, and outcomes.
